Description

This article describes how to set up alerts for inode utilization when it crosses a defined threshold.

Procedure

The alert can be set using Active IQ Unified Manager. It can notify on specific volumes, or on all volumes using the dynamic << All Volumes >> resource.

First, configure the thresholds to the desired value. The global defaults are 80% for 'Inodes Nearly Full' and 90% for 'Inodes Full'.

  1. Login to the Active IQ Unified Manager web UI with an user that has the 'Storage Administrator' or 'OnCommand Administrator' role.
  2. Expand the 'Event Thresholds' section of the navigation column.
  3. Click on the 'Volume' section to view global threshold settings and set the preferred global values.

Note: Should there be a need for different threshold settings for a specific volume, navigate to that volume and click the 'Actions > Edit Thresholds' to view and set the same options for only that volume.
