Answer
For scenarios like this:
cluster1::> event log show -message-name monitor.volume*
3/17/2021 01:10:00 cluster1_1 ALERT monitor.volume.nearlyFull: Aggregate aggr1 is nearly full(using or reserving 98% of space and 0% of inodes).
3/17/2021 01:30:00 cluster1_1 ALERT monitor.volume.nearlyFull: Volume vol_1@vserver:xxxxxx is nearly full (using or reserving 98% of space and 0% of inodes).
3/17/2021 01:33:00 cluster1_1 ALERT monitor.volume.nearlyFull: Volume vol_2@vserver:xxxxxx is nearly full (using or reserving 98% of space and 0% of inodes).
Unified manager should generate an Aggregate Space Full event but not necessarily a Volume Space Full event.
Unified Manager only takes into account Volume Utilization vs Volume Size. If the Volume Size or Volume Utilization does not change there will not be an event generated.
ONTAP EMS monitor.volume.nearlyFull
might be generated for the volumes, if the aggregate the volume belongs to gets full.
This is based on the fact there is no more space left if in the aggregate and therefore no more space for thin provisioned volumes to occupy, this nevertheless is not accounted by Unified Manager.
