Applies to

  • SnapDrive for Windows (SDW) 7.x
  • ONTAP 9

Description

Due to the way SDW determines the Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) and its credentials from LUN or SMB3 Shares, there are certain rules to setting it up:

  • The IP address on which SnapDrive will access the SVM cannot have a data protocol setup on it, and has to have a mgmt firewall
  • To use the SVM name in the Transport Protocol Settings (TPS), the name should resolve to the SVM's management LIF
  • For supporting SnapVault and SnapMirror destinations, the name of the SVM must resolve to the SVM's management LIF
