Issue

  • CIFS user performance may be impacted due to a 5 second delay authentication protection introduced by BUG 149707
  • A misbehaving client may be injecting failed authentication requests midstream of real CIFS\SMB workload for the same session.
  • The following output is displayed by only by enabling options cifs.trace_login on command:

[auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginTraceMsg:info]: AUTH: Delaying the response by 5 seconds due to continuous failed login attempts
 by user user$ of domain mydomain1 from client machine xx.xx.xx.xx.
