Description

This KB article is applicable only for v2.3 or later version of the 7-Mode Transition Tool.

For Copy-Based Transition, 7-Mode Transition Tool does a ping check from target cluster intercluster LIFs to the 7-Mode data-copy IP addresses. This check is done to make sure that intercluster LIFs are able to communicate with the 7-Mode data-copy IP address.

However, in some customer environments, ping (ICMP) requests are blocked which results in a blocking error in 7-Mode Transition Tool.

Technically it is not mandatory for the ping (ICMP) to work between intercluster LIFs and 7-Mode data-copy IP address for the SnapMirror data transfers to work.
