Cannot start the Storage Optimization service as RFSD process crashes with ASSERTION FAILED error

Issue

  • AltaVault experiences an RFSD process crash with the following message: ASSERTION FAILED (len > 0) at replicator.cc
  • AVA will typically reboot and Optimization Services would resume, however, there is possibility that the AltaVault could crash multiple times due to this issue.
  • The following messages are found:
Jun  6 10:30:56 localhost rfsd[19028]: [assert.CRIT] (20285) ASSERTION FAILED (len > 0) at replicator.cc:910
Jun  6 10:30:56 localhost pm[7161]: [pm.ERR]: Output from rfsd: /opt/rbt/bin/rfsd (pid 19028) received signal 6 (SIGABRT) dumping core
