Issue

  • Receiving multiple alerts with the subject "AltaVault Event on appliance_name: Unexpected shut down".
  • Below event could be seen at /var/log/messages or the messages file in the AltaVault system dump.

Jan 29 09:43:06 ava shutdown_check[4067]: Detected unexpected shutdown!
Jan 29 09:43:23 localhost mgmtd[5931]: [mgmtd.INFO]: System was not shut down normally.  An unexpected restart has been detected.

  • There is no indication of memory, IO or CPU hardware errors in the MCElog at the same time.
