Answer

  • If snapshot directory and previous version have been enabled you cannot restrict access for specific users and groups who have access to those shares and volumes
  • Enable snapdir-access 
    • volume modify -vserver <SVM_name> -volume <vol_name> -snapdir-access <true|false>
  • Enable show-previous-versions
    • ::> vserver cifs share properties add -vserver svm1 -share-name Public -share-properties show-previous-versions
