Applies to

  • NetApp BlueXP dark site deployments
  • DataSense / Classification upgrades (e.g., to 53.46.5)
  • BlueXP Connector running on RHEL 9.x

Issue

  • During an attempted upgrade of the DataSense Classification module using the dark site installer, the process fails.
  • The following error is observed in the upgrade logs:

Creating /opt/netapp/reports/dir
Error: no container with name or ID "curl" found: no such container

  • Additionally, the environment is running Podman version 5.2.2 on both the BlueXP Connector and DataSense VMs.
  • Cause

    • The failure is due to the use of an unsupported Podman version (5.2.2) on the BlueXP Connector host.
    • DataSense and BlueXP Private Mode (dark site) deployments only support specific Podman versions, as documented in the NetApp BlueXP Private Mode Installation Guide.
    • Podman 5.x is not supported and can cause container management issues during upgrades or installations.
    • Solution

    • Deploy a new BlueXP Connector instance with a supported Podman version as per NetApp documentation.
    • After deploying the supported Connector, proceed with the DataSense Classification upgrade.
    • Ensure the new Connector is properly linked to the Classification instance, contact Technical Support for this operation.
    • Confirm all prerequisites in the installation guide are met, including OS and Podman version compatibility.
