Failing to enable CBS on GCP CVO

Issue

Enabling cloud backup for volumes in a CVO GCP environment failed with the error: 
Failed:Failed to back up working environment. The service account associated with the working environment does not have enough permissions to perform cloud backup and restore

Cause

  • The missing permissions were assigned at the project and organization level and the same was inherited to the service account. 
  • BlueXP connector checks for permissions assigned to the service account and does not consider the inherited permissions.​​​

Solution

Add the missing permissions to the GCP service account to enable the backups for the volumes of a CVO system.

Internal Notes

The issue occurs due to the connector checking for permissions that are dedicatedly added to the service account and not the inherited permissions. The defect in BlueXP software is tracked in CPE-8034
