Issue

  • The upgrade to IMDSv2 in the following guide do not include NDU instructions
  • Step g in the following guide is asking to "Stop and start the Cloud Volumes ONTAP instances"
  • The instructions shutting down BlueXP instance would lead to an outage. If the outage is not acceptable, use the alternate method described below

Cause

Need to know if its possible to implement NDU upgrade

Solution

  • NDU upgrade is possible with Takeover and Giveback
  • Action Plan:

        1. Disable automatic giveback 
            "storage failover modify node nodename -auto-giveback false"
        2. Implement takeover from the first node
        3. After takeover is complete, stop and start second node instance in AWS
        4. Before the giveback. wait for plexes to complete resync, check with command "plex show"
        5. Do the same steps for partner node
        6. Re-enable automatic giveback
            "storage failover modify node nodename -auto-giveback true"
