Constant "aws.instance.metadata.fail" EMS alerts reporting

Issue

  • EMS logs are spammed with alerts like the following:

Sat Apr 13 22:17:47 -0400 [Cluster01-02: mgwd: aws.instance.metadata.fail:error]: IMDSv2 request fails to retrieve AWS instance metadata: placement/availability-zone-id.

  • VM-INSTANCE-INFO.XML in AutoSupports has no details

  • Note: Engineering has confirmed that this alert does not cause any service impact to the Cluster itself but can impact some job workflows such as:
    • CVO upgrades through BlueXP
    • BYOL node-based to Capacity license conversions
    • NSS Registration through BlueXP
    • Polling issues in Active IQ
