Global File Cache : Error Unable to communicate with the File System module, Error 2 The System cannot find the file specified

Applies to

  • Global File Cache (GFC) Engineering has identified an issue with the following Microsoft security updates installed on an instance running GFC code version 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4:
  • Edge 
  • Microsoft Security Updates 
    • Windows Server 2016 => KB5036899
    • Windows Server 2019 => KB5036896
    • Windows Server 2022 => KB5036909
  • IMPORTANT: Customers running any of the older GFC codes that are not 2.x (I.e., 4.7, 1.x) are not affected and will not be impacted by the listed Microsoft security updates. 

Issue

  • Missing FastData share.
  • Global File Cache Fast_Messages log starts printing the below error:
