Slow access to windows shares using Global File Cache due to expired GFC license

Issue

  • End users experiencing slow access to shares on windows host using Global file cache.
  • Takes a long time to enumerate the share contents but eventually they do have access.
  • All Edge servers/sites are affected by the same issue, no recent changes in the environment reported.
  • Reviewing the Global File Cache logs, there are multiple entries of the following licensing deprecated error message:
(Sun Apr  9 10:23:09 2023)    Warning    Legacy XML licensing is deprecated, please switch to Talon License Manager Server (LMS)
(Sun Apr  9 10:23:19 2023)    Error    Please check the license key.
  • Furthermore, we can confirm the license expired in the FASDebugLogs on the impacted Edge server, look for "subscriptionEndDate" in LMServer log to check if expired:
