Issue

  • Astra Trident intermittently fails to retrieve LUN information for certain FlexClone volumes during volume publishing in Kubernetes environments
  • Trident reports error:
rpc error: code=Unknown desc=error publishing ontap-san driver: problem retrieving LUN info: could not get LUN by name /vol/trident_pvc_f5977c08_4f79_4089_9a57_b3bb2d68e0f7/lun0
  • ONTAP CLI shows the LUN online and accessible, but Trident cannot access it
  • ONTAP CLI may show:
Warning: the LUN inventory is not available for the following volumes:
Volume "trident_pvc_f5977c08_4f79_4089_9a57_b3bb2d68e0f7" in Vserver "svm1". Reason: Operation is not allowed because of incomplete processing due to an error for a previous data management operation on the containing volume.
  • Intermittent occurrence, not all volumes are affected
  • Temporary workaround: taking the affected volume offline and bringing it back online restores LUN visibility
