Howto use NetCat instead of telnet to check if a port is open

Applies to

  • NetApp SolidFire
  • NetApp HCI
  • NetApp Element Software

Netcat is a more effective way of checking if a port is open over telnet. It is faster
and provides direct information of success or failure in connecting to a port. It also
doesn’t dump you into a telnet session that you have to exit.
