Issue

  • Adding the switch to monitoring fails with a timeout error:

cluster1::> system switch ethernet create -device clustersw1 -address 135.xx.xx.36 -snmp-version SNMPv2c -community cshm1! -model OTHER -type cluster-network -is-monitoring-enabled-admin true

Error: SNMP validation request timed out. Verify that the "-community-or-username" value is valid.

  • Ping to switch IP from node management LIF works.

cluster1::> network ping -lif node1_mgmt -vserver svm1 -destination 135.xx.xx.36

135.xx.xx.36 is alive

  • Snmpwalks from all nodes to switch intermittently timeout but works on partner switch.
