Answer

ONTAP does not support chattr and lsattr commands.

Example:

From Linux local disk:
[root@rhel1 ~]# chattr +i f1
[root@rhel1 ~]#
[root@rhel1 ~]# lsattr f1
----i----------- f1
[root@rhel1 ~]# chattr -i f1
[root@rhel1 ~]#
[root@rhel1 ~]# lsattr f1
---------------- f1

From NFS mount point:
[root@rhel1 mnt]# chattr +i f1
chattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device while reading flags on f1

[root@rhel1 mnt]# lsattr
lsattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device While reading flags on ./f1
