E-Series unscheduled reboot with MPIO and DA error

Applies to

  • NetApp E-Series
  • SANtricity OS 11.50.2 or below
  • Volumes created between 11.40.2 and 11.50.2 with Data Assurance (DA) feature
  • Using Storage Accelerator Features: Microsoft ODX or VMware VAAI

Issue

  • Storage-assisted copy operations (Windows ODX or VMware VAAI) may result in false DA errors and/or controller reboot
  • Controller report multipath (MPIO) error
  • Major Event Log (MEL) may report the following:
    • Data assurance mismatch detected - probable cause is cached data
    • Host multipath driver configuration error detected
    • Isolation of drive causing redundancy mismatch
  • Recovery Guru may report 

Failure Entry 1: NON_PREFERRED_PATH-Recovery Failure Type Code: 10
