NetApp NFS Plugin for VMware VAAI: Consolidation fails after VAAI install

Issue

  • After installing VAAI, vSphere starts flagging VMs for consolidation
  • When you try to run a consolidation, the attempt fails.
  • In the vmware.log files:
2021-05-13T16:26:22.414Z| vmx| E002: ConsolidateFillSnapDiskTransferArray: Failed to fetch disk size of '/vmfs/volumes/xxxx/VM/VM-000001.vmdk' for consolidate: Unknown error (5)
 
  • Additional operations, like cloning the flagged VMs, may fail as well
