OTV menu doesn't load when using a custom vSphere user

  • Virtual Storage Console (VSC)
  • ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere (OTV)

Issue

  • When you open the VSC or OTV Overview page in the vSphere Client as a custom vSphere user, the menu doesn't populate.
  • Additional menus like Storage Systems and Settings also fail to populate.
  • The menus may report errors referencing Insufficient privileges or:

javax.servlet.ServletException: org.springframework.web.util.NestedServletException: Request processing failed; nested exception is java.lang.NullPointerException

  • Other VSC/OTV pages may also show blank empty messages.
