NFS requests originating from the root user fails with error:"Permission denied"

Issue

  • Despite the fact that NFS access is being performed by the root user, permission checks result in root being denied rights to bypass permissions / change mode / change ownership.
  • When root user tries to create files/folder on volume which has permission set to 775 with user id 0 and group id 0, it fails with permission denied error.

[root@host:/vol1] touch file
touch: file: Permission denied
