Description

  • Root volume snapshots are legacy default settings from Data ONTAP operating in 7-mode, where recovery options such as restoring root volume to a previous checkpoint and other aspects used root volume snapshots.  
  • In clustered Data ONTAP 8 and ONTAP 9 different recovery options are used, which do not utilize the root volume snapshots any longer.
