Description

Multi-Admin Verification (MAV) is a new security feature in ONTAP 9.11.1. When enabled, a protected set of commands is identified, which cannot be executed without explicit approval of one or more administrators with special MAV credentials. This prevents compromised, malicious, or inexperienced administrators from making undesirable changes or deleting data.

However, if the MAV admin account is compromised or unavailable this article describes how to recover. This procedure requires direct console access and is viewable by NetApp partners.

Please contact NetApp Technical Support and reference this article for further assistance. The solution requires Diagnostic-level recovery. The use of Diagnostic commands and recovery steps is potentially disruptive and should only be used when directed by NetApp personnel.
