  • CIFS clients cannot access the ~snapshot directory

  • Snapdir-access not configured at volume level:

::> volume show -vserver vservner-name -volume volume -name -fields vserver, volume, snapdir-access, snapshot-policy, snapshot-count

Example:

::> volume show -vserver vs1 -volume vol_nas -fields vserver,volume,snapdir-access,snapshot-policy,snapshot-count
vserver volume  snapdir-access snapshot-policy snapshot-count
------- ------- -------------- --------------- --------------
Vserver  vol_nas false           default         10

  • showsnapshot not configured on share level:

::> cifs share properties show -vserver vserver -share-name share-name -share-properties showsnapshot

Example:

::> cifs share properties show -vserver vs1-share-name nas -share-properties showsnapshot
         Vserver: vs1
           Share: nas
Share Properties: oplocks

                  changenotify
                  show-previous-versions

Note: showsnapshot is not listed under Share Properties

  • ~snapshot directory is not being accessed from a valid entry point:

  • At the root of the share

  • At every junction point in the share space

Note: The hidden ~snapshot directory is NOT accessible from non-junction subdirectories within the share.

Example:

::> volume show -vserver vserver -fields volume,junction-path

::> volume show -vserver vs1 -fields volume,junction-path
vserver volume       junction-path
------- ------------ ----------------------------------------
vs1     vs1_root      /
vs1     vs1_vol1      /eng
vs1     vs1_vol2      /eng/projects1
vs1     vs1_vol3      /eng/projects2
