ASUP over SMTP fails with Client host rejected: Access denied

Issue

  • AutoSupport is enabled but not sending logs.
  • A notifyd log shows access denied:
(message:   Trying SMTP_Server_IP...)
(message: TCP_NODELAY set)
(message: STATE: CONNECT => WAITCONNECT handle 0x808e04008; line 1459 (connection #0))
(message: Connected to SMTP_Server_IP port 25 (#0))
(message: STATE: WAITCONNECT => SENDPROTOCONNECT handle 0x808e04008; line 1576 (connection #0))
(message: Marked for [keep alive]: SMTP default)
(message: SMTP 0x808a47e48 state change from STOP to SERVERGREET)

(message: 554 5.7.1 : Client host rejected: Access denied)
(message: Got unexpected smtp-server response: 554)

  • autosupport history show -instance shows timeout when connecting to the SMTP server:

SMTP connectivity check failed for destination. Error: Timeout was reached when connectiong to the server
