Error while modifying snmp trap host -  this event does not support SNMP trap

  • ONTAP 9
  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
  • Systems where traphost was configured in Clustered Data ONTAP 8 and then upgraded to ONTAP 9

Issue

  • Unable to modify SNMP traphost
  • system snmp traphost add command fails with error:

cluster01::> system snmp traphost add -peer-address 10.10.10.10
Error: command failed: The destination traphost cannot include an SNMP field because it is assigned to event app.log.crit and this event does not support SNMP trap.

  • System Manager error:
ONTAP API Failed: The destination traphost cannot include an SNMP field because it is assigned to event extCache.io.cardError and this event does not support SNMP trap. (Error: 13001)
