Answer

NetApp MetroCluster can be a source or destination for SnapMirror or SnapVault.

After a switchover or switchback:

  • If MetroCluster volume is SM/SV source:
    • Peering is automatically updated
    • Active replication transfers will be terminated
    • Replication resumes at the next interval
  • If MetroCluster volume is SM/SV destination:
    • Beginning with NetApp ONTAP® 9 replication relationships no longer need to be recreated after a switchover/switchback
    • Replication rebaseline not required
