Applies to

  • BlueXP
  • SnapMirror Restore
  • SnapMirror
  • ONTAP 9.3 and later
  • System Manager (formerly known as OnCommand System Manager)

Issue

  • When Volume Encryption is enabled on the source cluster, but not on the destination cluster, creating a SnapMirror relationship through ONTAP System Manager will fail with the following error:

Volume Encryption is not supported on the destination cluster

  • Below error is encountered on BlueXP:

Error:The existing SVM peer relationship between the source SVM src_svm on src_cluster and the destination SVM dest_svm on dest_cluster is not valid. Use System Manager or the clustered Data ONTAP CLI to fix the SVM peer relationship and then try again.

  • If you then try to create the relationship via System Manager, the "Encryption is not enabled on the destination cluster." error is received.
  • The MGWD.log shows the following event:

Tue Oct 11 2022 15:27:02 +08:00 [kern_mgwd:info:2739] 0x831262600: 8603e8000001ec87: ERR: tables::snapmirror_utils: [volPlaceAndCreateUsingBalancedPlacement:19989] Failed to create vol SVM:volume_test_dest on aggr aggr1: Error: Package "VE" is not licensed in the cluster.
