  • ONTAP 9.12.1
  • 7-Mode Transition Tool (7MTT)
  • SnapMirror
  • Transition Data Protection (TDP)

Issue

ONTAP was upgraded to 9.12.1 before the 7MTT storage cutover and the SnapMirror relationship (of type TDP) cannot be broken (snapmirror break) due to the below error:

Error: command failed: Transition data-protection relationships are no longer supported starting with ONTAP 9.12.1. Use ONTAP 9.11.1 as a transition destination, then upgrade.  Alternatively, deploy host-based migration tools for NASdata transition, or FLI for SAN data transition. For further guidance, search the NetApp support site for "TDP SnapMirror unsupported".
