Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • SnapMirror

Issue

  • When viewing space usage in a SnapMirror relationship with SnapMirror policy MirrorAllSnapshots, destination volume shows higher disk usage than source volume.
  • SnapMirror transfer is using "Logical Transfer"(LRE) to transfer.
    • To check if the Snapmirror is using "Logical Transfer with Storage Efficiency" or "Logical Transfer" (LRE) to transfer, access the SnapMirror Audit logs located in /etc/log/snapmirror_audit on the controller node which hosts the SnapMirror destination volume.
    • At the end of a successful transfer, these logs will indicate either "Logical Transfer with Storage Efficiency"  deduplication storage efficiency savings are maintained or "Logical Transfer" deduplication storage efficiency savings are lost.
