SVM DR snapshots are not automatically rotating on the source volume

Issue

  • The number of snapshots on the source volume reaches the maximum.
  • Error when manually deleting old SVM-DR snapshots:

Cluster1::> set advanced

Cluster1::*> volume snapshot delete -vserver svm1 -volume vol1 -snapshotvserverdr.0.1234567-1234-1234-1234-1234567898.2022-11-15_111704 -force true -ignore-owners true

Error: commandfailed: Failed to delete snapshot"vserverdr.0.1234567-1234-1234-1234-1234567898.2022-11-15_111704"of volume "vol1" on Vserver "svm1".Reason: Snapshot copy has notexpired or is locked.Use the "snapshot show -fields owners,expiry-time" command to view the expiry and lock status of the Snapshotcopy.

  • Other possible reason for the error:

Reason: Snapshot copy is locked by anti-ransomware to preserve it
