  • Selecting the AWS signature version is dependant on your ONTAP version

  • v2 signature
  • v4 signature
9.8 - 9.10.1
  • v4 signature only
    • Using v2 signature will result in a failure to connect
    • It is important to be aware of this because many client applications, including commonly used S3 browsers, use v2 signatures by default
Note: other signature versions are not supported by ONTAP S3

 

  • Beginning in ONTAP 9.11.1, ONTAP S3 supports v4 pre-signed URLs.
  • Beginning in ONTAP 9.16.1, ONTAP S3 supports v2 pre-signed urls.
  • NetApp recommends that client applications use v4 signatures when possible.
