Cluster Management interface operationally down in “network interface show”

Issue

  • After headswap and cluster setup cluster management LIF was showing operational status as down while hosted on one node of the cluster
netapp::> network interface show -lif cluster_mgmt -instance
                      Vserver Name: netapp
                         Home Node: netapp-01
                         Home Port: e0M
                      Current Node: netapp-01
                      Current Port: e0M
                Operational Status: down
                   Extended Status: This LIF is down because it is not configured in the network stack on node "netapp10-01". Wait a few minutes, then check the LIF's status again.
                           Is Home: true
             Administrative Status: up

 

  • LIF is operational and accessible while hosted on node showing operational status down
  • EMS logs:

Wed Dec 01 00:03:15 -0500 [netapp-01: intr: netinet.ethr.duplct.ipAdrr:error]: Duplicate IP address 192.168.1.1!! sent from Ethernet address: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX.

Wed Dec 01 00:20:50 -0500 [netapp-01: vifmgr: vifmgr.cdb.merge.dupip:alert]: IP address 192.168.1.1 is in use by multiple LIFs: local LIF cluster_mgmt (on node netapp10-01) and LIF cluster_mgmt (in IPspace ) configured in the cluster database.

  • Other EMS may be logged similar to:
netinet.ethr.dup.clustIP         EMERGENCY
