Client receives "mount.nfs: Protocol not supported" attempting to mount with NFSv4 in ONTAP 9, because export policy does not permit NFSv4

Issue

  • When attempting to mount an NFS export via NFSv4 (or later), client fails reporting mount.nfs: Protocol not supported
  • Utilizing the vserver export-policy check-access command reveals that access is denied to the root volume
