Issue

  • All Windows clients are unable to access CIFS shares, whether by name or IP address
  • secd.cifsAuth.problem errors with KRB5KDC_ERR_C_PRINCIPAL_UNKNOWN  in ONTAP event log

Example

secd.cifsAuth.problem:error
vserver (svm1) General CIFS authentication problem. 
Error: User authentication procedure failed CIFS SMB2 Share mapping - Client Ip = XX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Could not authenticate as 'SVM1$@CORP.DOMAIN.COM': Unknown user (KRB5KDC_ERR_C_PRINCIPAL_UNKNOWN)
