Need to reboot or upgrade ONTAP but CPU is too high to determine if it is safe

Issue

  • When doing an ONTAP upgrade or failover of any kind, CPU of node 1 + 2 in a high availability (HA) pair is > 100% total.
  • There is a concern that there will be latency during the failover.
  • Some documentation may also point to the former Upgrade Advisor suggestion of not 50% CPU utilization and checking sysstat -x 1 from the node shell.
    • Note: This is not mentioned anymore and should be removed from any existing documentation.
