What are considerations when splitting up VDI or home directory workloads?

Answer

  • It is best to limit number of users to 10,000 or less if using FlexVols
    • Create more FlexVols as needed on ONTAP nodes to keep under that limit
    • Alternatively, this can also be done by copying data to FlexGroups
  • Note: On FAS2xxx series, it is recommended to keep to 5,000 users or less per FlexVol due to less RAM
