Applies to

  • ONTAP Mediator
  • MetroCluster IP
    • ONTAP 9.15.1P16 and later P releases
    • ONTAP 9.16.1P10 and later P releases
    • ONTAP 9.17.1P3 and later P releases
    • ONTAP 9.18.1GA and all later releases
  • Network environments where latency between MetroCluster Nodes and Mediator exceeds 10 seconds.

Description

MetroCluster IP nodes access ONTAP Mediator mailbox disks using iSCSI sessions, which have a default connection timeout of 10 seconds, including a single retry after 5 seconds. In certain environments it may be necessary to increase the mailbox timeout to a maximum of 60 seconds to avoid disruption to Mediator-assisted unplanned switchover (MAUSO).
