Issue

  • The following errors are reported in the event logs of a Fabric MetroCluster system:

[Node-01: slifc_intrd: fci.link.break:error]: Link break detected on Fibre Channel adapter 3c.
[Node-01: lhm_main: callhome.fc.al.link:alert]: Call home for FC-AL LINK_FAILURE (3c)

  • There is no link on the affected FC port:

    slot 3: FC Host Adapter 3c (Emulex XE501 rev. 1, <DOWN>)
        Board name:        111-03648
        Serial Number:     FCXXXXX993
        Firmware rev:      11.4.277.0
        Host Port Id:      N/A
        FC Node Name:      2:000:00109b:4f18e1

  • The affected node transitions from "Quad-Path" to "Multi-Path" configuration.
  • The switch logs indicates that the switch port is disabled due to multiple link failures:

==================================================
   5   5   080500   id    16G      No_Light    FC  (Ports on Demand license not assigned or reserved yet)
