  • Snapmirror to cloud

Answer

Using the server-name other than storage.googleapis.com can create potential issues with the communication between Google cloud Storage and ONTAP.

Additional Information

  • Normally, the DNS servers in the environment would resolve the names properly for ONTAP if the environment is configured per GCP recommendations
  • If you don't want the DNS servers doing the resolution, you can create DNS host entries in ONTAP along with Alias for the other names like below,

cluster1::*> dns hosts show
Vserver    Address        Hostname        Aliases
---------- -------------- --------------- ----------------------
cluster1
           199.36.153.4   storage.googleapis.com
                                           oauth2.googleapis.com,
                                           cloudkms.googleapis.
                                           com

           199.36.153.5   storage.googleapis.com

           199.36.153.6   storage.googleapis.com
