SnapDiff

Answer

  • SnapDiff is an ONTAP technology that compares two Snapshots of a volume and provides a list of file changes between them.
  • SnapDiff is invoked via API by a backup application / Data Management Application (DMA) and provides the list of file changes through the same API.
  • RESTful APIs for SnapDiff (SnapDiff v3 APIs) are made available to select third-party backup partners to incorporate into their backup solutions; however, SnapDiff is not itself a data engine / data mover.
