  • Ontap OS prior to version 9.11.1

Answer

  • In a SAN environment  prior to version 9.11.1 , FC/ISCSI lifs do not failover.
  • It is then up to the host to manage the failover of traffic to the other available paths using  MPIO (Multipathing) software when the target path going to the Node hosting the lun goes down during Takeover/Giveback or during Node going offline.
  • As long as we have the appropriate MPIO software for the host OS installed and Host has access to both nodes , we should not encounter any issues with TO/GB.
