  • ONTAP 9
  • SAN - FC/iSCSI

Issue

  • LUNs became inaccessible to Linux hosts after migrating volumes from AFF-A400 to AFF-C80 and removing reporting nodes from the cluster
  • LUN mappings appeared correct and initiator login status showed as logged-in, but LUNs were not visible via previously configured LIF IP addresses
  • Users were unable to access critical data due to LUN inaccessibility
  • iSCSI connection failures reported after migration
  • All iSCSI LIFs were up/up but targets could not be reached

Example log output from the affected host:

[root@hostname ~]# iscsiadm -m discovery -t sendtargets -p 10.XX.XX.XXX:XXXX
iscsiadm: cannot make connection to 10.XX.XX.XX: No route to host
...
iscsiadm: connection login retries (reopen_max) 5 exceeded
iscsiadm: Could not perform SendTargets discovery: iSCSI PDU timed out
