Is it recommended to have ISCSI and NFS configuration on same link

Answer

  • Yes, ISCSI and NFS can be configured over same 10 Gb links.  
  • Although, it is not recommended to configure it over 1Gb links for a production environment.
  • However,  below things should be taken into considerations as well-
    • It can create unnecessary load on the link as same link will be used for both NFS and ISCSI traffic.
    • Additionally, if that link goes faulty , not just ISCSI but also NFS clients would get affected at same time.
      • Although, MPIO should take care of ISCSI traffic and lif failover should take care of the NFS traffic.
      • Note that you can't use a single LIF for both ISCSI and NFS
