FabricPool AIX SAN host remediation

Issue

  • During ONTAP FabricPool S3 tiering outage, AIX / VIOS may report:
    • I/O failures
    • Read-only filesystems
    • Degraded volume groups, etc. 
  • AIX errpt logs records this as either DISK OPERATION ERROR or fluctuating path status.
  • Sample error messages from AIX are shown below:

Filesystem that has traditional logging (log=/dev/loglv00), reports SC_DISK_ERR1 as DISK OPERATION ERROR
 
Traditional logging SC_DISK_ERR1 as DISK OPERATION ERROR
Filesystem shows as degraded
 
Filesystem shows as degraded
AIX cannot find valid copies of the Volume Group Descriptor Area (VGDA) for the volume group metadata and give error as "The volume group cannot be varied on because there are no good copies of the descriptor area"
