FC adapter down due to fixed port speed mismatch

Issue

  • SYSCONFIG-A shows adapter is down with status LINK NOT CONNECTED:

slot 2: Fibre Channel Target Host Adapter 2a
        (Emulex LPe32000 (LPe32004) rev. 12, <LINK NOT CONNECTED>)

  • FCP-ADAPTER.XML or network fcp adapter show -instance shows adapter's speed is set to 16G:

Operational Status    link not connected

Data Link Rate (Gbit)     16

  • NETWORK-INTERFACE.XML or network interface show -instance shows all LIFs on the adapter are down, with extended status LIF not initialized:

Operational Status    down

Extended Status    LIF not initialized

  • EMS log shows a link break:

Tue Sep 12 15:33:52 +0000 [node1: fct_tpd_work_thread_0: scsitarget.slifct.linkBreak:error]: Link break detected on Fibre Channel target HBA 2a with event status 1 , topology type 1, status1 0x0, status2 0x0.

  • Brocade FOS switchshow shows port is disabled due to throttling and speed is fixed to 32G:

  • Brocade FOS clihistory --showall shows the port speed was configured to 32G, without autonegotiation, at the same time as the link break:
