FC LIF went down post Ontap upgrade

Issue

  • Post upgrading Ontap, FC LIF went down as below.

            Corrective Action: LIF not initialized
  • NPIV is enabled on switch and FCP service is configured and running on Ontap FC SVMS.
  • Post upgrade port is showing as link disconnected and LIF is showing as LIF not initialized.
  • During upgrade when node got rebooted port went down and came back once the reboot is completed.

Sun Sep 10 02:30:11 +1000 [node-02: fct_tpd_work_thread_0: scsitarget.hwpfct.linkUp:notice]: Link up on Fibre Channel target adapter 2a.

  • As soon as the port came up after some time link break event was detected in EMS logs.

Sun Sep 10 02:30:17 +1000 [node-02: fct_tpd_work_thread_0: scsitarget.slifct.linkBreak:error]: Link break detected on Fibre Channel target HBA 2a with event status 1 , topology type 1, status1 0x0, status2 0x0.

  • Port is in Link Disconnected state and LIF is in LIF not initialized state.
