Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • FCP

Issue

  • One FCP path is not visible from the storage side.
  • The affected LIF on node 1 remains in the “Registering with NS” state after an FC link disruption.

Example:

cluster::> network interface show -data-protocol fcp -fields status-admin,status-oper,status-extended
vserver      lif           status-oper status-extended      status-admin
------------ ------------- ----------- -------------------- ------------
fcp-svm      fcp-lif-01-0e up          Registering with NS  up

  • The LIF’s operational status is ‘up’, but initiators cannot log in via this LIF.
  • No physical port or optical issues are seen on the storage or switch.
  • Other FCP paths are normal; only one path is affected.
  • No recent configuration changes or maintenance reported.
