Answer

  • Beginning with ONTAP 9.19.1, direct-attachment FC and FC-NVMe configurations are available for AFF, ASA, ASA r2 and FAS systems
  • Previous versions of ONTAP 9 use NPIV which requires a switch and hence direct-connection to nodes from hosts with FC is not supported
